PLEASE READ THIS LETTER IN ISO8859-2 Character Encoding

When I use these two mappings of Croatian characters
\kmap <đ = dbar = 0xF0> "\\dj"
\kmap <Đ = Dbar = 0xD0> "\\DJ"
Lyx decodes them as
\d{\j} - thus removing dot from j, instead of \dj- and
\D{J} - instead of \DJ -
How can I force Lyx to decode these two characters properly (so that
LaTeX can translate them, in T1 fontencoding, to đ and Đ). Would Lyx
show them as đ and Đ (and not as \eth and \ETH)?
Other Croatian-specific characters Č-č (Cgrave), Ć-ć (Cacute), Š-š
(Sgrave), Ž-ž (Zgrave) are both decoded (\v{C}, \'{C}, \v{S}, \v{Z})
and displayed in Lyx properly when their keymappings are set as follows:
\kmap Č "\\v{C}"
\kmap Ć "\\'{C}"
\kmap Š "\\v{S}"
\kmap Z "\\v{Z}"
I have fixed a problem of all these characters (decoding and displaying)
by using Latin2 inputenc package and ISO8859-2 fonts, but there seems to
be a problem of using these documents on some Unix-Tex-Latex
workstations. So it is still a better way to use mapping method.
