I found that courier was more legible than times on both my laptop and my
desktop machine (Nokia 17" screen!). I managed to do this
with the following horrible kludge:
\screen_font_roman -*-courier
#\screen_font_sans -*-helvetica
\screen_font_typewriter -*-terminal
in lyxrc.
There might be a better way...
