Hi --

I've been running LyX 1.0.3 successfully under RedHat 6.0 on my ThinkPad
600 for a few weeks now with little problems (although I haven't gotten
the previewing to work, but that's a different story...). The one
problem I haven't been able to solve is the appearance of fonts. In
general, they don't look as clean as on my desktop machine, but in
particular:

1. Boldface typefaces (e.g. those used in most headings) appear jagged,
as if they were rendered at a different size and then stretched up.
2. Fonts are much smaller: setting Options -> Screen Options -> Font
Zoom to 100 on my desktop produces very legible sizes, whereas on my
laptop the sizes are much smaller (appear to be about 5 pixels tall)

I'm generally an X11 novice, but I poked around with xfontsel on both
machines, and they seem to have similar font configurations. For
example, setting xfontsel to display -*-times-medium-r- on both machines
yields the same results. Is there something else that would affect the
size of fonts in LyX?

Thanks in advance.

Ramon

P.S. I very much echo Julian's kudos to Lyx -- it has made LaTeX
palatable for me!!
