I feel as if I am at my wit's end trying to find a vector drwaing program
which allow me to create drawings which I can export as eps files for
inclusion in a LyX document. I may have no alternative, but to
use xfig, but it seems
very unwieldy and it seems to take me forever to draw anything.
These are the other packages I have tried:
Package Problem
Killustrator Crashes when
I try to export as eps
Dia
Crashes and unable to reload *.dia file (still at ver 0.86)
Sketch
Can't export eps
Regarding sketch, I am told that it will work if the eps, however eps
is not directly supported by the PIL (Python Image Library) upon
which sketch is built.
Killustrator seems like the most straightforward and simple to use,
but
it has a number of acknowledged bugs, and little further work seems
to have been done with Killustrator since March 2000.
How are eps files created? Filters to create eps files.
=====================================
I will probably perservere with Sketch or, maybe, even xfig.
Nevertheless, I would be interested to know how other LyX users
create Encapsualted Postscript Vector graphic images, to include in
LyX documents.
Are there filter programs out there anywhere which can create eps
files?
Why only eps?
============
Also, sorry to ask what is likely to be a FAQ, but why are Postscript and Encapsulated Postscript the only graphics formats which can be imported into a LyX document?
Thanks for your attention.
regards,
James
