Hi James,

you could use ImageMagick to convert your image file in any format to 
any other format including eps. That means that you can run your 
favourite package for generating your image files, save it a format for 
which the package doesn't crash and convert it to eps with ImageMagick. 
If you are running Linux, ImageMagick is probably already installed on 
your machine (at least Slackware and Redhat come with it). Type 
`display' from the command line. Alternatively, you could use `convert' 
also from ImageMagick. Try 'man convert' and 'man display' to see how 
these programs work.
