You might try the Canvas 7 beta at www.deneba.com
It's a WINE-based port of their Mac/Win program & it works
remarkably well under Linux. Quite usable on a
400 MHz P II laptop. Canvas is a full featured combination of
Photoshop/Illustrator capabilities, smoothly integrating vector &
bitmapped graphics in one inexpensive package (the Linux beta is free)
Unfortunately, it suffers from the lack of 3rd party books to
illustrate its power.
