Dear Michael,

I do not manage to add an answer to the User's mailing list.
As I told you, I did try what you suggest. I have just reinstalled lyx, set the path to latex.tex in MiKTeX and updated MiKTeX in the process of lyx installation. Again, if I access Tools/Tex information in Lyx, I can see article.cls and its path, but when I open any file I get the same error...

Any idea of how to solve it? How could I add this message to the general mailing list?

Thank you so much for your attention and sorry for bothering you directly.

I am sending this once more to your private account as the user list received my comment but did not produce an output.

Have you run > Tools > Reconfigure in Lyx and then restarted LyX?

    Dear colleague,
    I am using Miktex 2.9 5721 and Lyx 2.1.4 in Windows 7.
When I open a document in lyx, I get the message of article.cls
    and natbib.sty not found.
However, I followed the instructions in
    http://wiki.lyx.org/FAQ/LaTeXErrors and I have, therefore,
installed both packages via Miktex Package Manager.
Indeed, if I check in Lyx, in Tools/Tex Information, article.cls
appears with its full path inside Miktex 2.9.

What else can I do to solve the problem?

Thank you so much for your help.

Hi Marta,
first, I am using a Linux platform and therefore cannot give you any advice re configuring LyX, Tex and associates in Windows.
What do you mean by "...set the path to latex.tex in MikTey..."
But whatever the platform is, when you start Lyx and then > File > New > Document < Settings you should see the Document Class set by default which is 'Article (Standard Class)' at least on a Linux system. You could then use it or choose another class from the list of available document classes. If you don't see what I said you need the help of people running LyX with MS Windows.

Note that I copied the Lyx user list hoping you will get some response from Windows users.

Good luck,
Michael
