OK, then the problem I detected yesterday seem to exist since Monday on some mirror servers (I'll check right now if this is now fixed and report back).
This is now fixed but I had to change the update process internally to reflect the latest changes in MiKTeX.
I therefore created the new installer version 4 that works for all of my test cases:
