No. It's a "toy" pdf viewer -- you can't print from it for instance (at least the version supplied with MiKTeX). I still use Sumatra as my main pdf viewer (and reluctantly turn to Adobe reader for printing odd and even pages separately for two-sided printing). Ah I see. Good to know. Scott Case solved-- I installed Evince, told Lyx to use it as the pdf viewer, changed the default output to pdf, and all is well now.  Now all I have to do is remove the pesky FoxitReader.
