Are you comfortable having your ppa mentioned on the LyX download page?
I do not mind it if you link to my PPA from the LyX website until the
official PPA is restored.
We could do that, two curious questions:
- Do you plan to stay close enough to to vanilla sources or do you see
yourself gradually shifting with stack of your own patches on top of that?
- Do you see this upload as a one time shot or do you have tentative plan
to keep the update for a while?
Thanks,

Hi Pavel,
Those are pretty natural questions especially if you are not sure how
long it will take to update the official PPA.
The packages following the obvious naming scheme are close to vanilla
(using packaging patches, cf. my reply to Jean-Marc; those are either
fixes proposed upstream or specific adaptations to Ubuntu/Gnome).
Indeed, one purpose of the *dev branches is for testing the upstream
development branches. It has been this way since Xenial (16.04).
(Something new is the update to 2.5, and the distinction between
branches 2.5dev and 2.5, the latter of which corresponds to a stable
(vanilla) release.)
It has also been the case that my PPA hosted my own experiments, however
those used different package names. I do not exclude that such
experiments will reappear, even if right now none are available for
Ubuntu 26.04. After all, the P in PPA stands for personal.
If the past is an indication for the future, it will keep working
correctly for several years before I need to make a major refresh, but I
cannot make any promise.
Cheers,
Guillaume
