You must be doing something wrong. I tried "Courier" font in xfig and it
works perfectly. I tried LyX-code environment in LyX, and it's perfect
too. Of course it's courier and ugly, but that you get if you really want
monospaced font. If at all possible, you should use table tricks to get
your alignment right.
