Have you tested it? I did and this changes nothing ;-) Latex still
complains that he cannot find out the image files.
Well, after cross-examinations of diferent placements of the main-master
document, including your workaround, I came to the point: master must be
placed in one of the Part-directory where lyx files included in the
master are stored. It is irrevelant in which one -- p1, p2 or p3. The
names of directories (prefix etc.) are not important. The storege of the
image files also seems to be out of interest.
This way and for the time, I'm close to finish up my book. Some specific
questions remain, when in trouble will address for help.

Hmm..., yes, I know. But neveretheless, thank you very much, Guenter.
What I do not know in this point, is how to merge in one file the whole
stuff of .msgs in my lyx-users subfolder in Kmail folder ~/Mail. But this
is out of interest in this list.
