  Once I understood how the depth command worked I could use it. I had
initially increased the nesting depth to 2 or 3 levels, but I could not
start a nested list by pressing [Tab] twice. Finally, I figured out that I
had to type the nested list, block it, then increase the depth. It's not as
quick and elegant, but it does work.
