So, what you are saying - there is no way to slow down scrolling? Sounds strange, since
scrolling is done right even in very primitive text editors...

It's easier to use the shift key. Click on where you want to start highlighting, then hold the shift-key down and press page-down. You can
use the down and up-arrows and cursor movement keys to move the selection
end-point around.
