Just to keep things straight: svmono.cls has no clue about .bib files and it shouldn't have -- it reads pure-LaTeX thebibliography environment from .bbl file created by BibTeX from .aux file generated by the first run of LaTeX (of course, all this is done by LyX on background, but it may be helpful to know what's going on).
