I am not sure the overhead will be so large, since LyX is a pure Qt application, not a KDE one. The Qt port is really nicer than the xforms one (but indeed a bit slower). There is a gtk port in preparation, but I doubt it will be ready for 1.4.0 (unless its author gets some help in converting dialogs). JMarc
