I don't think LyX is in fault here, take a look to your pdf converters. Menu -> Tools -> Settings (I guess, last choice in the bottom, «Préférences» in french) -> Converters depending of your way to convert to pdf (in File -> Export there is 3 different ways to export to pdf) you will see which converter is used. If ps2pdf is choosen, take a look to ps2pdf (it's simply a batch file in /usr/bin) and check it's options. SuSE may use different options; for exemple, if /screen is selected instead of /prepress, the conversion to pdf will be faster but the quality is less. Well, I hope this is a good hint!
