The only thing you can then do is to reinstall the math fonts you find in ~\Resources\fonts manually via Windows.
Have you uninstalled LyX 1.4.3 before you installed LyX 1.4.4? Have you installed LyX 1.4.3 using LyXWinInstaller or did you use the installer named "LyX 1.4.3-5" for LyX 1.4.3?
