Dear all,
Forgive this beginner's question. I am looking for the example file,
example_lyxified.lyx, referred to in the Lyx Tutorial. I quote:
"The example files can be found in the examples/ directory, which
you can
get to by selecting FileOpen and then clicking on the Examples
button. Open
the raw document, and use FileSaveAs to save a copy in your own
directory
for you to work on. As you fix parts of the raw document, check to
see how
those changes affect the dvi output."
Unfortunately I can find no Examples button - at least on the Mac
version
1.5.0 rc1 (PPC). Nor is it clear from the text above where I should be
looking for the examples/ directory. I am using Lyx 1.5.0 rc1 on a Mac
PowerBook (G3 500MHz 256MB RAM Mac OS 10.3.9) with LiveTex.
Unfortunately on Mac the examples directory is hidden within the
LyX.app bundle (where it's normally invisible to the Finder and Save/
Open dialogs). But you can find it within LyX by choosing File >
Open, and then typing <Cmd><Shift>G, which will bring up a dialog
asking you what folder to go to. Type in /Applications/LyX.app/
Contents/Resources/examples, and you'll be there.
We should find a way to make this more accessible. I'm thinking about
putting it in ~/Library/Application Support/LyX-1.5/examples/default.
Any thoughts on that?
