Thanks -- by 1.5, do you mean what Sun seems to call "5.0"? On their site it
seems to go from 1.4.2, to 5.0, to 6.0. And I'm guessing you mean EXACTLY
(as opposed to AT LEAST) 1.5.

To complicate matters, there seem to be several versions of Java installed
on this machine; this is what is on the machine, according to "Add/Remove
Programs":

J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_11
Java(TM) 6 Update 2
Java(TM) 6 Update 3
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1

Also, to further demonstrate my ignorance, I'm not exactly sure which
process is dealing with this, so am not sure which logs I should be looking
at. LyX? Java? MiKTeX? oolatex?

This is getting off-LyX, I know . . .
