Workaround: force using the tipa font by
a.) inserting \textipa{N} or \textipa{\ng} in ERT

OK.

b.) Insert->Special Characters->Phonetic Symbols (or Ctrl-Alt-P) to get to
TIPA-mode and then insert "N".

OK (but Ctrl-Alt-P doesn't work in my LyX, but that's not urgent).

Thanks again for that.

PS. this is one of the reasons why I recommend to learn the tipa shortcut notation and to use the TIPA-mode rather than pasting IPA chars into LyX.

Sorry, after one our of search (with spotlight and looking the tipaman.pdf and symbols-a4.pdf through - and the LinguistLyX-website, too) I cannot find the "tipa shortcut notation".

May I have an easier usable hint?

Thanks in advance,
