Is the file authorized for being read by the user (or larger rights?) ? Maybe Lyx does not have the right to read the file... Have you "corrected your authorizations" (I am translating from French a menu of the disk utility) recently?
In the folder you indicate I have an aspell-fr-0.50-3 folder with all rights for the user and rx for the group and a aspell6-en-6.0-0 folder with all rights for the user and the group and rx for the other users. The files in these folders have the rights rw for the user and r for the group. I can spell check in both languages my Lyx files. I hope this helps.
