Thanks Jürgen, I found that Alt+Shift+" made quotes that somehow matched up. I'd rather ask a stupid question than make a stupid mistake. In American English, should the opening matched single quote look like a six and the closing one look like a nine? That's how mine is, although of course the six and nine don't have actual loops.
