You've whetted my appetite, Liviu. This would be the best solution of all. Do
you know of one or are you simply suggesting it's very likely that one exists?

While I'm at it, is there a document that provides a general overview of the
major document classes, one that would help me identify one that provides what
I'm looking for? In my first go-around with LyX/LaTeX/TeX I was attracted by
the KOMA-script class, but I don't remember why.

Thanks,
