Seeing what can happen when editing documents with different versions of word (or word vs openoffice), I think that trying to get good round-trip support is a loss of time. People will take this as a promise and complain that it does not work well enough.
The difference of structure between word and lyx are too important to be able to work in a word<->LyX collaboration IMO.
