Glad you got it fixed.

Steve, these are wise words. I sometimes find myself upgrading things
for no reason and sometimes I pay the price. You are right that there
are potential disadvantages to upgrading.

In this case, I think the risk is small if you do what I suggested
(the daily PPA and install lyx2.0) because of two reasons:
1) This should bring in no extra dependencies (I don't think LyX ever
changes dependencies between minor releases)
and
2) Instead of upgrading your LyX, this installs alongside your
existing distribution. Then, to run LyX you can either do 'lyx
yourFile.lyx' (which is what you currently have installed) or 'lyx2.0
yourFile.lyx' (which is the version from the PPA). lyx2.0 also uses a
different home folder by default, ~/.lyx2.0 I think so in theory 'lyx'
should never know the existence of its hopefully more mature older
sibling, 'lyx2.0'. However, although I've found this to be true in
practice, you never know.

Of course, things can always go wrong, especially since the PPAs are
new and although we haven't heard any problems (at all) I don't think
many people have been using them.

Best,

Scott
