[M100] T200 Super Capacitor Warning

A few months back I upgraded my 102 with a super capacitor instead of 
the internal battery. This has worked perfectly and I have been able to 
go for more than 3 days without loosing memory.

However, I tried the same replacement on my 200 today and it caused 
problems. First, when I plugged in AC power the unit powered up on it's 
own. Then when I tried to power down, the screen was left with two 
horizontal lines and the speaker had a low hum. In the end, I cut the 
leads to the capacitor and I am running without an internal backup 
battery. This restored everything to normal. I run my 200 off AC power 
100% of the time so it's not a huge issue as long as I backup my work to 
the PC it is connected to. Eventually I will put a replacement NiCd 
battery in.

I just wanted to pass that along to anyone  who was contemplating making 
the switch.

I also installed a new Y2K EPROM which is also customized with the (C) 
Microsoft replacement. When replacing the main ROM you only need to 
replace the 32k chip (M15) and just leave the 8k PROM in place.
