Without looking at the schematic, the cap may present a much lower impedance
than the NiCad, thereby causing a large inrush and possible attendant
perturbations in the power when it is first applied. Quite obviously, the
abrupt capacitive load is considerably different than the load of a NiCad.

However, I tried the same replacement on my 200 today and it caused
problems. First, when I plugged in AC power the unit powered up on it's
own. Then when I tried to power down, the screen was left with two
horizontal lines and the speaker had a low hum. In the end, I cut the
leads to the capacitor and I am running without an internal backup
battery. This restored everything to normal.
