Yep! :-) I was given the CHIP specifically because I mentioned the possibility of using one of these tiny SBC's as a PDD server, and the CHIP seems optimized for portable solutions. It has a built-in battery connector, for instance. Heck I could take it on the road NOW, just put the CHIP in a box with the FTDI rs232 dongle sticking out and powered by a USB charger, But a more elegant (and hopefully less power-hungry) solution would be a level-converter for the UART pins, powered off the CHIP's battery. I haven't gone deep enough into the hardware side to say if this is practical, yet.
