FWIW -

Thanks to a previous bad experience with a leaking NiCD,  I

replaced the NiCD in my 8201a's with 3 F supercaps, which

to my knowledge don't leak,  and use Eneloop AAs in the

battery pack.

Low-Self-Discharge NiMH cells like Eneloops are integral to the

scheme - A fully-charged Eneloop pack will keep RAM alive for

years;  a Supercap for a few weeks to a few months,  depending

on the quiescent current of your RAM chips - More than enough

time to recharge the Eneloops.

And OBTW,  Eneloops don't leak either.  Problem solved.
