If you're at all concerned about cells leaking though,  Mike's

Li phone battery is a better idea,  IMHO - Alkaline batteries

are arguably your worst possible choice...

Might be a good idea to "diode-OR" it  <and> have a healthy

resistor, say 100K,  between the battery & the rail too.  I don't

know much about Mike's setup - He'd be the guy to ask.
