Hey I'd never seen these "pin replacements", probably not what you're referring to, but in a similar vein: http://www.dasarodesigns.com/product/batten-and-allen-ba3760-dill-leadframe-dip-pcb-edge-clip-pins/ Overall definitely a better idea than socketing full strip headers, which I was never exceedingly happy about.
