Well pc serial ports have been running at 12v for a long time and connecting a tpdd to a pc and other machines is a normal use case and has been so for decades without issue. The problems we see with tpdds seems to be belt related not damaged serial ports.
But we don’t know what’s in that cable. Anyone try xraying and / or destroying one to figure it out? I think we’ve had discussions on that before. — John
