The USB to Serial adapter lacks drivers for Android.  I have an email in asking
if it will even work with Android.
The mComm instructions are unclear.  While futzing around I managed to get TERM
to stop beeping at me but I don't know if the adapter will work lacking
assurance that it CAN work.  Does mComm do stuff besides emulate a TDD?  I got
a similar rig working on my now-broken Win7 netbook because I can work with
Hyperterminal in my sleep, but I need this to work on what I have here in the
rehab home.

You can install mComm on android

and use a USB-on-the-go cable to connect a USB-to-serial cable
