Most of those "scrubbed html part" are just redundant html copies of the
same text that was in the plain text part, so mostly you just ignore
that footer.
The only fix is for senders not to send things which will be scrubbed.
Don't attach images directly to posts, instead place them somewhere and
link to them.
You personally can't do anything about what other people send, or the
lists content filter.
If the scrubbed part did contain images, it wasn't supposed to in the
first place since see above, don't include images directly in posts,
instead link to them.
I do not suggest requesting John to change the list filter either, as I
agree with it.
