I encourage using linking for a lot of reasons, a good one is that it lets users decide whether to open an image. However direct linking can be useful if you're careful to shrink the images. It lets you display directly if that's what you want to do in a post. As long as people don't abuse the privilege I won't have to turn on any filters. -- John.
