I would *strongly* recommend having nothing connected on the memory
battery pads until you can verify life on the machine. There are too
many variables there. With nothing connected, you should see the Vb
rail float up to the main power supply rail.

I'd advise you to (once you've disconnected the capacitor) to work
through the troubleshooting flowchart in the M100 service manual.
