You absolutely need the www in front or the link won't work.

I have a prolific based USB to Serial adapter and I don't think I needed
to download the driver -- it just installed the driver automatically
when I plugged it in. There are a lot of knock-off cheap prolific USB
to Serial adapters that are blacklisted by the drivers. If you have an
adapter running an unofficial prolific chip then you might not be able
to get it working.

prolific.com.tw <http://prolific.com.tw>? I just get "this site cannot

link back to the dead site.
I have other adaptors but they are buried in storage.

Maybe delete the device and re add it in Windows. Prolific site is

Communication error generally refers to the cable check. So either
you dont have full null wiring or you need to loop back dtr/dsr.

I finally found that my Surface Pro Go is using COM3, but it

I am using a prolific pl2303 adaptor. I have not been able to
get the driver: Prolific's Taiwanese web site is down, and
whenever download a file the driver is not in the zip.
Windowsreport.com talks about menu options that do not exist
on my Surface Pro Go.
Strangely, when I plug into my Linux Mint box, TS-DOS says
"Communication Error" rather than the usual "Drive Not Ready".

A couple of questions
What com port is your USB device on?
Is it set to auto start or are you clicking the button to
start the service?
What kind of USB to serial device are you using?

Okay, I have mComm installed. It says "Unabled to start
service" and then "TPDD/TELCOM Service started". Maybe
it's the usb to serial connector?

Yup, mcomm works fine on my Windows 10 laptop,
connecting to my M102 via a usb-to-serial cable.

Peter,
If you look farther down on the page you will see
setup250.exe which is the installer for the
Windows version of mComm.

Laddiealpha should work fine. Let me know if
you run into issues.
