Just to clarify - you do need a null modem cable. The StarTech cable that I
used in the video is a null modem cable (it crosses the TX and RX lines), and I
used an RS-232 to USB converter that leverages the PL2303 chip.

If you're still trying to use mcomm, I showed how to use mcomm 2.5 as a TPDD in
a different video - https://youtu.be/CkqcmGkUxGs?si=sl2kMfmgGuLwQvh_&t=546.
Although, I do recall it crashing quite a bit and having to unplug and reinsert
the USB cable a bunch of times. It's been a couple of months since I've used
it, so I don't quite remember all the challenges that I had... but I was able
to get it working with Windows 11, that StarTech cable, and the PL2303 adapter.

These days, I mainly use my TPDD backpack... or if I have a single file to
transfer from the PC, I'll just use the copy command built into Windows and
stream it to the com port.

If you don't want to figure out the wiring and yourself, then you need
specifically one of these cables (any of the links),
http://tandy.wiki/Model_T_Serial_Cable

You need that same cable no matter what software you're using on either
end, TELCOM, BASIC, a tpdd server & client, putty, windows, linux,
whatever, all needs the same cable if it's connecting to a pc com port
or standard usb-serial adapter which are all designed to replace old pc
com ports.

The video has a link to the same startech one, except on amazon instead
of startech's site.
