I'd look at it from both sides: - The WiFi modem firmware should have an AT command that gives you the status of the device. It should tell you if it is actually connected to the WiFi access point, and possibly what the signal strength is. - The router should see the WiFi modem has a connected device and tell you what the IP address is. (Which should match the status from the WiFi modem device.)
