So it sounds like in your case you need to focus on the TCP connection. Maybe get familiar with Wireshark or tcpdump and TCP protocol and see what it looks like when things work and what it looks like when they are failing. It might not have anything to do with your wimodem hardware per se.
Fwiw when I've played with these devices I had very little difficulty with the TCP side. -- John.
