Partial refresh modes would be the key and a very smart controller in between. I don't know just how bad it would be, but it might not be too terrible at the low resolution of the Model T.

I certainly don't have the kind of energy needed to explore this (and it would require a custom panel made anyway which would be incredibly expensive.) It was mostly just fantasizing.
