So, just wanted to follow up on this and it's a happy story as my model 100 is
working flawlessly now.
After Jeff responded I viewed all his great Youtube videos about TRS-80 model
100's. I was left with two interesting things. If the
machine behaves strangely it might be because:
1) left over flux that has become slightly conductive
2) or missing battery

So I addressed both of these. There was a lot of left over flux in certain
areas of the mother board that needed to be cleaned of and I
replaced the battery. And behold: The machine now works perfectly :).

Thanks for all the great videos Jeff, and happy holidays to you all :)

Now, I will go and write some TEXT files on my Norwegian Model 100!.

Have you measured the power supply rails to see if you are losing one?

Happens with both. First time using the adapter and after that I changed to
batteries. Same behaviour.

Is this using the power adapter or using AA batteries?

      Hi

I have a Model 100 that works perfectly for 2 - 5 minutes then makes a small
crackling sound (speaker) then seems to
just power off. When I try to restart it (power on/off switch) it does not
work. When I try it the next day it works
again for some time before it powers off.

I have removed the internal battery and changed all caps on the right hand side
of the motherboard (as I believe I read
somewhere that these where the power side of things). But the behavior is
exactly the same. Still have a few caps on the
left hand side that I haven't changed but I'm starting to loose faith in my
capacitor theory.

Any ideas would be appreciated. If anyone has experienced the same and know the
fix that would be even better :)
