I belive Lukas posted the reply he received from Hans a couple of weeks ago, basically it mounted up to that a lot of applications misinterpret the v4l2 specs which make them break when libv4l is used. The main forum for discussing libv4l is currently the video4linux list, available at https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/video4linux-list but my feeling that a dedicated mailing list would be more appropriate.
