Please post your definition of "clearly pornographic".

Someone asked why members are being so silent. I,
for, one read the memos, but don't respond because I
don't have anything substantive to say about some
topics.

However, I've been following with interest this
conversation about the intent of mailart and
whether/how to edit submitted pieces for exhibiting
purposes. I understand exhibition was not originally
the goal of mailartists, but the artform seems to be
changing, along with the rest culture. I suppose this
is inevitable.

This conversation has been very informative for me
because I am coordinating two mailart projects which
will eventually be displayed at a public school during
a national holiday. Obviously, certain submitted
pieces with clearly pornographic material will have to
be left out of the exhibit, and they are not posted on
my website. Not only are they clearly not in line
with the invitation, but they will offend many
viewers. Not sure why they were submitted in the first
place.

This conversation about censorship of mailart will
also be a topic I will bring up at a workshop on
mailart for teachers and parents I'm coordinating. I'm
sure folks will have many strong opinions on the
subject.

Thanks for everyone's input.

Tanya
