Agreed, but at least there is a work around on one of your concerns,
pressing menu twice on an item in the market that doesn't speak the name
refreshes the location and speaks the item's name. Unfortunately, that
must be done every time you move to a non spoken item.
At least use the blog. to communicate important information.

My problem with Code Factory is that it does not communicate with its
customers unless it is releasing a new product. There are many and
many Podcasts on the web about each and every single products by Code
Factory. Can't they pay those same folks, probably the same amount of
money to quickly update their customers? I mean, I am being a bit
facetious here, but not completely. they truly need a PR department.
They need someone to just answer questions when possible and tell
clients to wait when warranted. the business model of remaining silent
until we release a big update would fail immediately if there was a
true competitor on the market.
Write something on the listserv telling customers you will provide
further updates in two months, three months, six months. Be
responsive. Don't just ignore people's concerns so egregiously. I
would love to know if they are working on a fix for the Android
market. I would want to know what the new accessibility features mean
for further development. I would want to have my questions answered
without releasing stuff they don't want to have released as yet.
People aren't looking for news about their development cycles, we are
looking for information so we can make informed choices. I truly wish
they take notice this time.

Well said, I was not going to involve myself in this thread but I will
say a few things. The product is still very new, and considering this,
I think it does quite a bit. Ok, the browser does not have streaming,
that would be nice, but that's not a feature worth delaying the
release of a product. More people use a browser to read pages than to
stream audio, I think what code factory tried to do was include the
most important, most used features first. Android is a totally
different environment from Symbian and windows mobile, for me at
least, I have no regrets on purchasing it.

Wow. Way 2 bash 1 of the only companies trying 2 make android

design ma. There is a way 2 have feedback without brow beating an
entire company.
Besides all that, the app is really still very new. It took freedom
scientific ages 2 get the bugs out of jaws. They still have a few bugs.
Did u ever think that maybe its more the fact that u either had false
expectations when downloading it coz u had a phone with mobile speak
before? Maybe its also coz u arent that great a touch screen user,
lets face it, not every blind person likes or can use a touch screen.
The key is 2 open ur mind and be adaptable coz afterall, all software
designed for the blind is adaptable.

Mike,
My comments resulted from the half-ass job they did with the access
they _did provide. I downloaded it mainly for testing purposes but
also because of the email client and web browser, but I was shocked at
how little attention they paid to making their product truly usable. I
mean, what kind of a browser doesn't provide streaming? And it takes a
sighted person who has no experience with the blind to say "Oh, we
should include a where am I app because poor helpless blind people are
always getting lost and they should know their address every two
inches while walking but the intersection isn't that important because
why would blind people care about that"? And it's not like the cloud
hasn't been around for a while now ... I mean, how difficult would it
be to make the google calendar and the MA calendar sync? And maybe
provide push notifications for the MA calendar? Like "Hey, you have an
appointment coming up, here's a little alarm to remind you". Or are we
substandard phone users who wouldn't wish to appreciate the features
that every single sighted phone and/or droid user has enjoyed for the
past few years? now, before people start blocking me because of
negative posts, I am enjoying certain aspects of mobile accessibility.
The apps list with its removing apps being right there in the menu,
the email app for the most part, the calendar even are excellent apps,
and the voice is excellent. But it is extremely lacking, I don't know
if there are any MA representatives keeping an eye on this list, and I
haven't seen an effort to fix these issues even though I have seen the
same things I'm posting about over and over on many different lists.
Now maybe they're going to come out with an awesome new update that
fixes all of this. At that point, I will try it out and say "Wow, I'm
sorry codefactory, you really have innovated and come a long way".
Until then, how can I recomment that a user pay the most money for any
app I have used on the android market when it doesn't provide too much
more access than other free alternatives? This is especially true with
the release of the accessible browser in ICS.
Thanks.

Hey everyone, while we all would like more answers, remember that the
new version of android has just been released, at least the SDK has.
Also, there are other companies that don't provide a lot of feedback
until a product is released, Apple is probably most known for this.

Hi all I am sure code factory will do us proud and it would be nice
if we
had some answers but the more they answer emails the less time they
have
to
develop things. I wonder if anyone can tell me if the orion 18 will
be of
use to uk customers or is it just in America where it will be used.?
thanks.

Hello.
Well, I have seen that some kind of customer careless from
codefactory.
I have months asking for a recomendation of a cell phone with
android,
neven in their web page they have a simple list of recomended models.
In Nuance's web page they have a list of cell phones which can run
Talks.
Codefactory does not have something like that.
Besides, people consider that a better customer attention is needed.
We would like to know is you have something which might improve
the work
of MA in the new Android version, people could prefer your product in
sted
of Apple's or Nuance's because they velieve in Android concept and
they
spect if Coode factory support android so, they will support
codefactory.
Thanks and keep reading the opinion of your users.
