yes, you will have to use the optical pad. As these buttons aren't
labeled, you will have to experiment a bit to find it and then to get
to it quickly, Otherwise, you will need someone to show you where, on
the screen the button is and go from there.

I would personally not recommend the HTC ChaCha for a totally blind
person that needs to use speech. The internal memory is not enough
and the htc sense UI is in the way.
