Rekan sekalian, Saya barusan membaca satu bagian dari buku Ajaran Buddha Menuju Hidup Bahagia, karya Dr. Tan Choo Kim. pada halaman 12 terdapat kalimat sbb:
Untuk menjadi suci, tentu saja kita tidak boleh mengkonsumsi daging sama sekali. Karena bila kita tidak ingin makan daging, maka hewan-hewan yang malang tersebut tidak mungkin disembelih. Saya mungkin bisa mentolerir kalimat kedua. Tapi saya sangat-sangat tidak setuju dengan kalimat pertama tersebut! Makanan (daging atau bukan) adalah sesuatu yang sifatnya jasmaniah, sedangkan kesucian adalah sesuatu yang sifatnya batiniah. Bagaimana mungkin makanan bisa mempengaruhi kesucian ??? Bagaimana pendapat rekan sekalin? Dan bagaimana pula tanggapan Yayasan Svarnadipa Sriwijaya, selaku penerbit buku tersebut?
