In practice I have not found this to be a problem as generally the Mac
shuts down a lot quicker. ON my IMac I do not shut down but morally put it
to sleep with command option escape and it is startlingly quick, pretty much instantaneous really , I can tell the screen just goes black in a blink. . I
am not sure how your Mac Book will compare.

If I need to restart the system the Mac does naked a system sounds as it
reboots.
This is pretty much all I need - instant shut down through sleep and a
reboot on the odd occasion for which there are existing sound indicators.

What I do find difficult is using the option key to enter boot camp or
recovery disc or external drive boot . I cannot see when the menu when boot options comes up so I end up having to count up to 30 and even then I might
find myself going back into Mac OS by mistake. It would be great if there
was a second system sound when you get to option boot menu.

Well, if that is the case, how on earth do we know if the Mac is shutting
down? Does VoiceOver stay until it is about to be turned off? Kind of like
how iOS devices do it? Thanks!

Yeah that'd be nice. That was one of the things that I noticed that
was different from windows. But sadly, I don't think there is.
