Hello Dane & anybody else who is interested Nothing personal Dane; but you are totally missing the point here. All that stuff about saving and swapping is totally irrelevant. The point I'm making and the reason why I am so annoyed is because 48 hours after our purchase, the model is updated. Back in 2005 when Gordon bought his first Mac Mini, apple contacted him after he placed the order and he was given the option to wait a week or so for an updated version of the machine he ordered. Gordon apparently gook that option, and waited.
This time, Apple gave us absolutely no indication whatsoever that an upgrade was imminent, not to mention the fact that the price was changing. They simply went ahead with the order without even bothering to attend to customer satisfaction. If I get an order, (as has happened very recently) for Take Control books for instance, and I know an update is due, I will always contact the customer and advise them of the pending update. I'll then give them the option to wait a day or two or buy now. That is the way to get good customer relations. Rather than simply disregarding the fact that even while the model is in the hands of the courier, the manufacturers have rendered it obsolete. Yes, of course, I knew about the pending Lion update. That isn't a problem. The issue here is one of hardware. Less than 48 hours out of the warehouse and it's obsolete. That isn't the way to treat one's customers in my opinion. They demonstrated that in 2005 when they gave Gordon the opportunity to wait for the updated version which is what happened and he was quite satisfied. I hope I'm making myself clear.
